Summer Linen Refresh – Maisie’s Room

Part two of my girls summer bedroom refresh.  Here are all the details about little miss Maisie’s summery bedroom update.

In complete contrast to Maddie’s bedroom, Maisie has one of the sunniest rooms in the house.  The sun streams in on her bed during the day.  I often think it would be lovely to curl up there for a wee snooze.  It’s so sunny I had to close her blinds to stop the shadows and get any decent photos!

I went for coloured sheets in Maisie’s room and found the perfect shade of mint to match her wall decals at Adairs which has just opened at Sylvia Park in Auckland as well as their newly launched NZ online store.  Available in sizes single to queen, each item is available individually so you can mix and match amongst their gorgeous colours and prints.  Their sheets are a generous fit which is awesome, especially if you have a deep mattress.  And with a 250 thread count cotton, the Adairs sheets are silky smooth!  Pastel Pom Pom Garland also available from Adairs.  Pink Spot Blanket by David Fussenegger from Linens & More.

Again I used the ‘Dotty’ duvet cover set from Ezibuy that I used in Madeline’s room but this time we ran with the mint which is subtle and lets those bright mint sheets shine!

The yellow and pink round velvet cushions are from Linens & More, bedside table from Farmers, toy basket from The Warehouse, squirrel night light by George & Co from The Furniture Store, polka dot wall decals from Vivid Wall Decals, ice cream wall decals from Jimmy Cricket, Peyton bed from Freedom Furniture, roman blinds custom made in Clarke & Clarke fabric from Home Fabrics.

It’s fair to say we had another very happy camper when she saw her room (she squealed, threw herself on her bed and did a little three year old happy dance!)

A massive thank you to Ezibuy and Adairs for your support.  I was gifted product for the purpose of this blog post but it is not sponsored.  All creative ideas are my own.

Surviving Summer

Surviving Summer SUMMER IS COMING; and just like on Game of Thrones (with Winter coming), Summer is going to be brutal. Think hot sunny days where we get to spend the WHOLE day outside – until 9pm. Think beaches, picnics, BBQ’s, Pool parties (if you’re lucky enough). Summer is where it’s at, and it’s ALMOST HERE! […]

Teaching Good Table Manners

As kids, table manners were drummed into us. Most nights we ate together at the table as a family, with each one taking turns to set the table before dinner, or clearing afterwards. And then, of course, came the washing up. These days, many families don’t eat at the table much, and for those that…

Summer Linen Refresh – Maddie’s Room

Summer is just around the corner.  It’s (almost!) time to put away the flannelette until next winter in favour of crisp cottons and fresh colours.  Check out the summertime bed linen refresh I popped together for each of my girls.  First up, Madeline’s bedroom…

Maddie’s bedroom is the darkest room in our home.  We will shortly be knocking out her exterior bedroom wall and installing a ranch slider which will lighten her room no end but in the mean time I lightened and brightened her space using white and pastel linen.  Maddie has a bright aqua feature wall with pink, white and gold polka dot wall stickers from Vivid Wall Decals which she loves but in my good opinion makes her room darker.  I suggested to her painting it out to match the rest of the room (our house is Resene White Pointer) but apparently that was not an option so I pulled together mainly white bed linen with subtle pops of colour that would lend themselves to her feature wall to help lighten and brighten her room.

The sheets are design ‘Molly’ by Paterson Rose.  We’ve been using Paterson Rose sheets on our girls beds for years now so I can attest to their amazingness.  Made from a high quality 100% cotton percale, they are incredibly crisp, smooth and wash and iron up beautifully.  I just love printed sheets and the subtle aqua ticking detailing of this design is perfect.  Available in cot size right up to queen size and come as sets including a flat sheet, fitted sheet and pillowcase(s).

The white and blush pink spot duvet cover is a design called ‘Dotty’ from Ezibuy.  It’s a stark contrast from her previous duvet which was a bright floral design by Designers Guild from Allium Interiors (which we still love and will alternate with).  ‘Dotty’ is a lovely fresh design which isn’t too young or old and will grow with her.  It also has a delicate piping all the way around the outside of duvet cover and pillowcase which is a really lovely detail.  Available single right through to super king.  The blanket at the end of the bed is an amazing Austrian brand called David Fussenegger from Linens & More.  The euro pillow is from Wallace Cotton.

The swan cushion and garland lights wound around the bed head are from K-Mart.  The round aqua velvet cushion is from Linens & More.  I sewed the bunting above the bed head using Forever Friends quilting fabric from Spotlight.  I love the dreamcatchers, feathers and teepees for our little explorer.

Artwork from left to right: ‘Tread lightly on my dreams’ by Sarah Jane Studios, house boxes from Typo, Butterfly Bunny from Olivia Bezett, Unicorn from Toucan, Indian Girls & Buffalo wall hanging from Misery Guts, polka dot wall decals from Vivid Wall Decals.

It’s fair to say our six year old was over the moon with her bedroom update when she came home from school!  It’s fresh yet cozy, ultra comfortable, and calming yet fun.  I love it!  Next up, Maisie’s Bedroom…

A massive thank you to Ezibuy and Paterson Rose for your support.  I was gifted product for the purpose of this blog post but it is not sponsored.  All creative ideas are my own.
