No. of Kids: 1, Luke, born August 2010
Current City: Palmerston North

What’s your blog all about?
I’m a 29 year old Essex girl with a Scottish husband living in New Zealand. My latest adventure is having a year off to look after my baby boy who was born in August 2010. My blog talks about life with my baby boy, crafty projects I’m working on and I share recipes and other things I love.

Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging back in 2005 when me and my then fiance moved to New Zealand from the UK. It was a way of letting friends and family know what we were up to. I still update that original blog occasionally but found myself wanting to share different posts – more about me, babies, crafting and recipes – so I set up Mummy Adventures which is a blog all about stuff I love and enjoy rather than a news-y type journal.

What is your favourite part about blogging?
Putting together pretty pictures with words, being able to share my latest projects and the amazing community of bloggers that all support each other.

How do you manage juggling family life with blogging?
I tend to use baby’s nap time to write posts. I often draft up a few posts at once so I can keeping posting regularly even if my week goes pear-shaped! I see blogging as me-time, I get to share what I love and what I’m doing so I try not to feel any guilt about taking 15 minutes out of my day to construct a post or 2.

Any advice to new/other bloggers?
Take lots of pictures and resize them to post – it saves uploading time and pictures break up the words and make the posts easier to read. Also, I often sit on a Sunday and make a rough plan of my week for life in general – as part of this plan I list some ideas for blog posts – it means I don’t sit here wondering what to blog about and then never getting round to actually posting.
