In the world of social justice, language is important. I consider myself fairly woke, or if I’m honest, in a continuous process of waking up, and almost daily I learn something about the language I’m using in reference to disability, mental health and ableism. I thought I had the disability… Continue reading

Comment on The Media and Fat people by Vanessa
I keep meaning to go through and re-read all the blog posts I have saved. Finally have a bit of downtime at work :P I couldn’t believe the things I read around the time of Nike launching plus size gear. Seriously, as a plus size woman I thought to myself “we are damned if we do and damned if we don’t”. We get told constantly to not be ‘lazy’ and go and exercise, and then finally a well-known sportswear company launches their range and then suddenly they are at fault for prompting obesity.
Bloody internet trolls and do-gooders drive me MENTAL! Continue reading

Three reasons I love my husband more as a dad
Since my husband became a dad, my definition of ‘hot’ has shifted – enormously. Forget washboard abs, a deep husky voice and bulging biceps – my husband is smoking hot when he is being a great dad. Why? Well, I think these things are pretty darn attractive. 1. Silliness A guy who is secure and […]

Sugar Sugar Everywhere …
SUGAR SUGAR EVERYWHERE … Sugar, sugar, everywhere; but nobody’s allowed to eat it. What’s up with that? Why aren’t we allowed to say “I give my kid this every now and then” without being informed by people passionate about sugar consumption. Or maybe it’s just me because I have a large audience. Maybe it’s because […]
