What’s your blog all about?
I have worn many hats in my lifetime.  From lab scientist,  fitness instructor and entrepreneur, none of these roles compares to that of being a mother.  I spent 14 years in the Middle East (Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai) where I met my lovely Kiwi husband and gave birth to my three girls.  I am Canadian and now live in New Zealand.  This drastic change from the overindulgent lifestyle of the Middle East to the beautifully humble land of New Zealand is what inspired me to start my journey into a simpler existence.  Nektar is the Sweet Chronicles of our (now!) Simple Life…..

Why did you start blogging?
Blogging has been beckoning me for a very long time now.  When I lived in Dubai, I followed blogs about “living in Dubai” and always felt there was something missing.  I wanted to share the true nature of what really goes on there….problem is that I was too busy working out at the gym, having coffee with my friends, or out partying to even THINK about writing. Once I arrived in New Zealand (we came on a “holiday” but ended up staying unexpectedly!) I fell into a depression of yearning for my old life.  It has taken me almost 2 years to finally see the beauty around me and adopt a simpler, more sustainable lifestyle for my family.  It’s a slow road but I love being able to document what we’ve achieved so far, it’s just so rewarding!!

What is your favourite part about blogging?

I love the “connectedness” that is achieved through blogging.  New friends are made and every post I read is an inspiration to me.  I love getting feedback about my posts and hope that I might just CONNECT with a few kindred spirits who are on the same path…..

How do you manage juggling family life with blogging?
Blogging and family life go hand in hand perfectly.  You are never short of content when there’s always that youthful energy buzzing around you!  I like to keep notebooks nearby where I can “chicken scratch”  whatever comes into my head. This is what helps me create my posts.  If I feel like taking photo’s, I take them.  They always seem to fit into the post perfectly and often a random photo will inspire me to get writing!! I almost always write my posts late at night.  This is my downtime…..

Any advice to new/other bloggers?
START writing.  Take photo’s randomly.  Write in a notebook, WHATEVER comes into your head. Write about what you LOVE………..pure and simple.
