What’s your blog all about?
I am a part time artist on my kitchen table and I sell my work through a few galleries around NZ and also online… So I blog about the works I create, my creative process and the thoughts/ideas behind them. I also blog about being creative in amongst a busy family life…. (not always easy).
Why did you start blogging?
One day a tutor at work told me to look at etsy.com… I asked why, she just said (rather loudly) JUST LOOK! The first thing that caught my eye on the front page was Kelly Rae Roberts… I checked out her shop, and then after thinking what kind of crazy people write a blog I read her blog from the first post to the last… I went home and told my family that I had a new best friend, she didn’t know I existed but I felt I had known her for ever. So now I have an etsy shop of my own (sleepandhersisters.etsy.com) and I am one of those crazy people who write a blog. I started checking out other peoples blogs and started to form my own little community, a tribe of fellow bloggers who I now call my ‘friends’. It wasn’t until a few months ago that I discovered KMB… I am amazed and delighted to find such a group of lovely talented mummy bloggers in my own back yard!!!
What is your favourite part about blogging?
My favourite part of blogging has to be the connections and friendships I have made over the last year and a half… the world has become a much smaller place and my own world has become so much bigger because of this. I want to write and illustrate a children’s book one day and have been told to write often, blogging is a really good way to do this and also get feedback as well. I really love reading peoples comments, they make me smile and sometimes give me a chuckle that lasts the day.
How do you manage juggling family life with blogging?
The beauty of blogging is that you can write a bit and then go back to it when you have time later in the evening. Sometimes I write out a post on paper throughout the day and then transfer it to the computer when Ben is in bed and in between Hannah and her facebooking needs.
Any advice to new/other bloggers?
I think it is important to write often… I try and post two times a week, usually Tuesday and Friday, but sometimes life gets in the way and it doesn’t go to plan, but it is also important to remember to have fun with it and not to stress too much, enjoy it. I cringe now when I look back at my first posts, but they are important to know how far I have come.

Top 3 favourite blogs?
Picking three was hard, there are so many lovely people out there, especially now I have discovered a whole lot of new blogs closer to home, but here are three from out in the big wide world that really mean a lot to me…
kellyraeroberts.blogspot.com – After reading this blog my life changed.
aquamarineart.blogspot.com – Tara lives in Brighton, England and we have been blog buddies for a while ever since she won a giveaway of mine and it got lost in the mail, she had never been here and decided to come to NZ for a holiday, we meet up for a weekend and had so much fun, it was great and was like we had known each other for ever. Although we did have a minor incident… after I had taken her up Te Mata Peak to see the view of the Bay, my car broke down and I had to call my mum to help us out (she was mad I didn’t belong to the AA and said she was going to join me up for my birthday, I told her I actually wanted an atlas… she said the AA have maps) Anyway I love reading what Tara is up to .
chrissygardner.blogspot.com – Chrissy is the sweetest person you will ever meet and I look forward to reading her posts.
