Interview

Bronwyn

.

I have three blogs running at the moment: Bron’s Boys, which is my invitation-only blog, which basically showcases photos and videos of my two sons; ‘Tis Interesting, which is my public blog – it’s still seeking direction at the moment, which is one of my plans for this year; and my new one, 1001 Book Reviews, which is where we’re planning on reviewing 1001 books (strangely enough!)- so please do come and help out!

What’s your blog all about?
I’m a SAHM Mum, having stopped teaching for a few years when I started having kids (the plan is to stay off work until the kids are school-aged, as long as finances allow that!).  My private blog is purely about my boys, and is a record for them as much as it is for extended family and friends to keep up with our daily goings-on.  ‘Tis Interesting is still seeking a true direction, but is basically a place for me to put things other than photos of my boys.  And 1001 Book Reviews is exactly what the title indicates – I’m aiming to get people to help me out to get 1001 books reviewed!

Why did you start blogging?
So that my boys’ grandparents could see the latest photos, without me having to email them photos every couple of days!

What is your favourite part about blogging?
The connection I make with other bloggers and, especially, blogging Mums.

How do you manage juggling family life with blogging?
Post scheduling!!  It’s not uncommon for me to sit down and write 5 or 10 posts one evening, and schedule them out, one a day, for the next few days.

Any advice to new/other bloggers?
Hook up with some experienced bloggers and ask heaps of questions.  Play around with your layout and background until you find something you really like, because it makes you want to come back and add to it.  Create a habit of posting every week (or day) – once you’ve created the habit of posting regularly, it’s hard to stop!

Top 3 favourite posts from your blog?
Every post in my private blog is a favourite, because they’re all just photos of my boys!  In ‘Tis Interesting, though… I love The Norwegian Guards, The “You’re Not a NZer unless” list, and a really odd toy for kids!

Top 3 favourite blogs?
I follow a lot of fellow blogging-Mums, but some of my favourites are Renee at Nay’s Place because we’ve known each other for far too many years, and our kids are just two days difference in age; Hyperbole and a Half, which has gorgeously funny stories and pictures about daily goings-on; and The McMommy Chronicles, which is a Florida Mum’s humorous outlook on life.
